Boundary Channel Drive Holds Ribbon Cutting

Shirley held its official ribbon cutting ceremony for the Boundary Channel Drive at I-395 Interchange Design-Build Project in Arlington County, Virginia. Attendees included officials from Arlington County, VDOT, other local municipalities and the general public.

The project team reduced the roadway from four lanes to two lanes, converted two crossroad ramp terminals into roundabouts, constructed a sidewalk on the eastbound side, added a mixed-use path westbound side, and constructed a connection to the Mount Vernon Trail within National Park Service property. Dewberry was the project engineer for this project.

Route 7 Corridor Improvements in Fairfax County Held Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The Route 7 Corridor Improvements project holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on May 22, 2024.

The project widened Route 7 from four to six lanes between Reston Avenue and Jarrett Valley Drive. As a result, Route 7 is continuously at least six lanes from Leesburg to Tysons, a stretch totaling about 20 miles.

Shirley Contracting Awarded Rockland Road (Rt. 658) Project in Warren County, VA

We are pleased to announce that The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has awarded Shirley Contracting Company, LLC the Rockland Road (Route 658) Project in Warren County, VA near Front Royal.

The project scope includes construction of a grade-separated crossing over the Norfolk Southern Railway on Rockland Road (Route 658) with a minimum vertical clearance of 23 feet over the railroad tracks, accommodating double-stacked freight containers. The project also includes improvements to roadway approaches on Route 658 and realigns part of Route 705 (Fishnet Boulevard), the entrance to Rockland Park. (more…)

We are pleased to announce that the Virginia Department of Transportation recently awarded Shirley Contracting Company, LLC the I-64 GAP Segment A Widening project. Here’s an article on the recent groundbreaking ceremony held and information about this very important project.

It is the first of 3-phases. Segment A will widen the corridor from four to six lanes, alleviating congestion on the interstate from Hampton Roads to Richmond.

Ribbon Cutting Held For Route 1 Widening Project

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held recently for another section of the Route 1 Widening project designed to improve traffic congestion and accessibility for business owners and the local community. The project being constructed by the Shirley Contracting Company, LLC project team and Dewberry as the design team.

The project scope included a newly completed section between Featherstone and Marys Way widened Route 1 from a four-lane undivided highway to a six-lane divided highway with a five-foot-wide sidewalk along the road. (more…)
