lanes for 13 miles west of the project, and at least six lanes for nearly 3 miles east of the project.  The design-build project team of Shirley Contracting Company, LLC as the primary contractor, and Dewberry as the lead designer is building 14 miles of shared-use path – 7 miles on each side of the road – to connect to previously-built sections. The project also includes a $200 million upgrade to gas lines by Washington Gas and more than 7 miles of noise walls.
