Shirley Receives HCCA Infrastructure Award for the Boundary Channel Drive at I-395 Project

Boundary Channel Drive at I-395 Interchange Project Team Accepts HCCA Infrastructure Award

In addition to fully  reconstructing Boundary Channel Drive, the Project removed and replaced the existing Interchange Ramps, permanently deleting a prior ramp to I-395 Southbound that had been linked to a history of unsafe vehicle movements. On either side of Boundary Channel Drive, the Project constructed a new asphalt  shared-use-path and a concrete sidewalk, improving accommodations for pedestrians and bicyclists through the largely urban corridor. The Project’s shared-use-path became the missing link of the Mt. Vernon Trail, connecting to two existing dead-end sections of trail, one to the north at the National Park Service Boundary and one to the south at the entrance to the recently constructed Long Bridge Aquatics and Fitness Center.
